Breaking Down Boundaries™ is an intervarsity social justice conference, organised by students from six different Sydney universities. The conference allows law students to learn about, discuss and engage with social justice issues and career paths. 2010 marks the conference’s third year, which has been in high demand as both prior conferences have sold out.
Our first conference was held in November 2008, at Sancta Sophia College, Camperdown. In 2009, the second conference was held from 4-6 December at the University of Sydney and the Women’s College. Previous guest speakers include The Hon Michael Kirby AC CMG; Commonwealth Attorney-General Robert McClelland; Julian Burnside QC and President of the Australian Human Rights Commission, Catherine Branson QC.
We seek to inspire and inform attendees by reaffirming the role of law as a powerful social justice tool. In doing so, Breaking Down Boundaries™ will harness and fortify the resolve of the next generation of leading progressive lawyers.

Breaking Down Boundaries™ is run under the auspices of Breaking Down Boundaries Inc., a not-for-profit association.
